The east end of US 44 is in Plymouth MA. The photo below was taken heading northeast on Samoset Street:
Long,
Oct. 2005
That sign is posted about a block shy of the highway's actual end, which is at Court Street (the stoplight ahead). That intersection (as well as the MA hwy. 3A signage) is shown more closely in the photo below:
Moraseski, 2000
You can see part of Plymouth Bay in the distance. Heading south on Court, the junction sign for US 44 looks like this:
Long,
Oct. 2005
If you follow that route, you'll soon be heading west on Samoset, and you'll see the first confirming assembly shortly:
Long,
Oct. 2005
Incidentally, the National Monument to the Forefathers is about two blocks to the right.
The west end of US 44 is in Kerhonkson NY, at its junction with US 209 (mis-signed as NY 209 in the photo below):
Roberson,
June 2006
The "End" sign visible in the distance is shown close-up below:
Kerr, Aug. 2000
Below we're heading north on US 209 (again mis-signed):
Roberson,
June 2006
The west beginning of US 44 is to the right (the blue sign is for the New York Thruway, or I-87).
