Historic endpoint of US highway 15 in Rochester, NY

In 1939, US 15 was extended north from the Corning area, all the way to Rochester. The old road is still drivable (the northern segment is now signed NY hwy. 15), but it's no longer heavily used, thanks to I-390 and "the Southern Tier Expressway" (I-86/NY 17). The photo below was heading south on South Avenue at Court Street:

Note the old US 15 sign: a relic from the past (unfortunately it was gone as of 2008, as was the other US 15 sign shown below, as well as the entire sign bridge shown above). About a block further south, there was another old sign, shown below:

Those shots were taken from what used to be the north beginning of US 15. Since that road is one-way southbound, the historic north end was about a block away. The photo below shows that spot:

That was taken from Clinton Avenue at Woodbury Boulevard (or NY hwy. 31), just north of I-490. In 1974 the north end of US 15 was truncated to its present terminus in Painted Post - you can view photos from there on my main US 15 page.
