Map of US highway 62, US 68 and family, and US 412

US 62 is represented by the purple line from Niagara Falls NY to El Paso TX.

US 68 is the purple line beginning in Reidland KY (near Paducah). Its current northern terminus is in Findlay OH; the red line extending north of there to Toledo is the historic extent of US 68.

US 168 (historic) is the red line from Louisville to Mt. Vernon KY. Originally, US 68 shared the segment of US 168 to Bardstown (southeast of Louisville) and then continued on its own down towards Russellville.

US 412 is also shown on this map (the green line from Columbia TN to Springer NM). Because its number is a major violation of US route numbering conventions, I included it on this map to demonstrate how the highway would fit into the US 62 family, if it were to be assigned a number US x62. (This is just one of several other possibilities that make more sense than 412; I've also included the route on the maps for US 56, US 60, US 64, and US 70).
