Map of US highway 80 and family

Map 1 (of 2) below shows the "early" US 80 and the routings of its original branch highways:
US 80 is represented by the purple line beginning at Tybee Island GA. Its western terminus is currently in Dallas TX; the red line extending west of there to San Diego is the historic extent of US 80.
US 180 [I] (historic) is the red line from Florence Jct. AZ to Caballo NM.
US 280 is the blue line from Blitchton GA to Birmingham AL.
US 380 is the blue line from San Antonio NM to Greenville TX. Its original routing to Albany TX (and later to Cisco) is shown in red.

There have been numerous changes to US 80 and its branch highways over the years - it's now a "broken family": US 80 has been drastically cut back, and it no longer connects with two of its branch routes (US 180 and 380). Compare the map above to Map 2 below, which shows "later" routings:

Map 2 (of 2) above shows:
US 80 is represented by the purple line from Tybee Island GA to Dallas TX.
US 180 [I] (historic) is gone.
US 180 is the blue line from Tusayan AZ to Weatherford TX. The red lines extending east and west from those points are the historic extents of US 180. It essentially follows US 80's former route between El Paso and Deming NM (although that segment is mostly signed only as I-10 today).
US 280 is the blue line from Blitchton GA to Birmingham AL.
US 380 is the blue line from San Antonio NM to Greenville TX.
