100 years of US routes: 1926-2026
1934-present
North: Milford, PA
South: Hammonton, NJ
View a map showing this route. Mileage: in 1989 AASHTO listed a figure of 131 miles for US 206. That closely matches our own 2020 measurement, which yielded 130.2 miles (or exactly 131 miles if measured to downtown Milford). Want historic mileages? Our handy reference book includes the mileages that were published in all 13 of AASHO/AASHTO's historic route logs (spanning the years 1927 to 1989).
US 206 was commissioned in 1934, and its north end has been in Milford ever since. The south end of US 206 is at its junction with US 30 (or White Horse Pike) in Hammonton:
US 206 comes in on Trenton Road and aligns with 12th Street (NJ hwy. 54) at US 30. Here is the signage approaching the terminus:
The road itself continues past US 30, but south of that point it is designated NJ 54. This photo was taken from westbound US 30; the south beginning of US 206 is to the right:
It is a little more complicated from eastbound US 30, because no turns are allowed at the intersection. Instead, northbound US 206 traffic is first directed to the south, along with NJ 54:
Then drivers make a left turn onto northbound NJ 54...
...which ends just ahead at US 30, while straight ahead is the beginning of US 206:
A confirming assembly is not posted until travelers have continued about two miles north:
