100 years of US routes: 1926-2026
1927-1934
This map shows the south terminus of US 217 at Pee Dee (which was not labeled on the map, but it is at the junction situated between Florence and Marion):
This photo was looking east on US 76/north on US 301 in Pee Dee:
The south beginning of US 217 was to the left, more or less where US 301 splits off today (although these roads were not four-laned at the time, and there was no grade separation). US 217 was decommissioned in 1932, when US 301 was extended along its entire corridor. So then for about two years, the south beginning of US 301 was to the left, but it was not long before US 301 was extended further south from Pee Dee.
