1928-present
The current south end of US 119 at Pineville was first the south end of US 23, and then the south end of US 123[i]. That route became part of a southward extension of US 119 in 1934, and this junction has marked the south end of that route ever since. There was not a standard "End" sign there, but the photo below shows the unusual sign that was posted approaching the junction with US 25E:
Another identical sign was posted on the opposite side of the road. Signage at the actual terminus appears thus:
From northbound US 25E, the south beginning of US 119 is marked like this:
To the right was historically the south beginning of US 123[i], and before that, the south beginning of US 23.
