End of historic US highway 411 [ii]1932-1934
|
This page refers to the second US 411 (which was neither the current US 411, nor the original US 411). It existed for only about two years, and then it was decommissioned when US 220 was extended over its former route. Photos from its historic endpoints can be viewed on the Madison page and on the Rockingham page. This map illustrates US 411 in its entirety. Note that it also illustrates US 411's sibling route, US 311, at the time of its maximum historic extent: from Roanoke in the north to Rowland in the south. In addition to their junction in Madison, US 311 and US 411 also had a significant overlap between Randleman and Candor. But in 1934, the route was subsumed by an extension of US 220.
