This image was taken looking south on NM hwy. 469 in San Jon. There, Historic US 66 is now classified as Frontage Road 4118. I was surprised to see that its route marker was a cutout (tap to view a larger version):
The backside of the marker reveals a date stamp of 1996. Note that the cutout is detailed enough to show the minuscule "panhandle" in the northeast corner of New Mexico. Note also the I-40 overpass in the distance. That is approximately a quarter-mile away, so "frontage road" seems like an inappropriate way to refer to old US 66 at this location:
Not all NM frontage roads are signed with cutouts...
